What Is It About Children?
by snowbird inthat makes us like/love them so?.
is it how good they smell or how unpretentious they are?.
my granddaughter - age 9 - gave me a big smile and hug before i walked out of the door this am.. it felt good then and i can still feel the effects.. children are precious and so wonderful!.

This afternoon I was taking a nap, and so were my two children - or so I thought... I heard a noise and rolled over, only to see my beautiful four year old boy, with his big eyes, turned up nose and rosy cupids bow lips, standing at my bedside, asking me if I minded very much if he took his nap with me... "this bed feels so much more nicer because you are in it Mommy". I made space for him to climb in next me and he cuddled up to me and grasped my hand. He fell asleep within minutes and I just lay there, gazing at him and wishing that somehow, I could lock this moment in a time capsule. I want to somehow be able to always remember the softness of his skin, the way he smells, the sound of his gentle breathing and the size of his tiny hand in my grown up one.

BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?
by Black Man ini often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

Hello from South Africa
Marmot... my mom and dad got married about 35 years ago and I am sure that the elder who did their wedding talk was someone name Jack Jones and his wife was Estrella... they were definitely American or Canadian - common name, but could they have been the same people?
When I was a teen in the 90's - there was great excitment in the congregation, because we 3 people from brooklyn were joining our congregation - Robert Canada and Carmine and Rebecca Santorelli - Anyone know them?

Is the "My Book of Bible Stories" appropriate reading for Little Ones?
by Princess Daisy Boo inmy little boy, aged 4 1/2 loves his bedtime stories, and also loves "jesus stories" as he calls them... .
now, i have never gotten around to going to a book store and actually buying a childrens bible story book from the shops (yes...i still have a bit of a mental block and some deep seated issues about any religious literature).
my mom gave my kids a copy of the bible story book, as well as listening to the great teacher (the new soft cover book - think it is called that?

Hi Everyone
Thanks for all your input... I guess that is a resounding NO in answer to my question - just what I thought!
My book of BS - LOL - Love that
Journey on - This is exactly what I am talking about - my boy wants this book way more often than any of his other books.
Lou - I have seen the C U M shops (what is up that name anyway?) - perhaps I will get the guts to go into one sometime soon?
Thanks for some of the ideas on the books on Amazon - I will check them out!
Love
Boo

My mom gave my kids a copy of the Bible Story Book, as well as Listening to the Great Teacher (the new soft cover book - think it is called that?), and I have tried reading the stories to my kids occasionally, figuring they are just bible stories after all, but I find that they are so violent and disturbing - Cain killing Abel for example...!
Does anyone have advice regarding this? Are normal children's bibles as detailed as this? What level of bible teaching is appropriate for a 4 year old, especially one with parents who don't believe in organised religion?
Your thoughts?

Describe Your Sense of Humor
by minimus ini think posting on a discussion board can tend to come across in a certain way, personality wise.. i'm the type of person "in real life" that is usually considered quite funny.
i have a very quick wit and i can usually disable someone rather quickly with a facial expression, smile or definitive body language.
of course, you can't see those things here but you might notice a person's humor (or lack of it) by how they post.. so what tickles your funny bone?

That's exactly what I am talking about Crafty Lady - I think that Liz Doll story is very funny and is just the kind of comment that I would make... but would probably not go down well at all!

Oprah & Sexual Abuse & JW's - an interesting episode?
by Princess Daisy Boo ini was watching oprah today and a thought crossed my mind... based on the recent sexual assault case in sa at her school, and her reaction to that situation, this is obviously an issue close to her heart, so wouldn't her show be a perfect forum for an expose on the jw/pedophilia issue?

Hi Lou
I haven't actually seen an Oprah episode on the Sexual Assault issue here, but I did hear about her reaction to it and the press release.
Thanks for your comments and ideas folks... interesting reading!
